We serve Developers, Property Owners, Banks, Institutions, Authorities, Building and Civil Engineering Companies in property development endeavours across 5 sectors. Our services span all stages of the property development lifecycle.

Established in 1975 our mission has always been to tailor Quantity Surveying services to fit the needs of clients and projects. We highly value client relationships and customer service in order to achieve this. To this day, we remain a private business that is proudly 100% Australian owned.

Steven Bregovic

National Director

Steven Bregovic is a seasoned construction professional and Director at Newton Fisher Group, bringing over two decades of expertise in quantity surveying, project management, and strategic leadership across Australia’s built environment sector.

He holds a Bachelor of Construction Management and Property with Honours, majoring in Quantity Surveying, from the University of New South Wales, and is a long-standing member of both the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (MAIQS, CQS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB). Steven is also a Registered Tax Practitioner. His leadership contributions to the profession include serving currently as NSW Committee member – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Representative for AIQS and as NSW Centre Chair for the CIOB from 2014 to 2017 and representing Australasia at the CIOB Members’ Forum.

Steven’s technical expertise covers the full lifecycle of construction projects, including:

  • Master planning and feasibility studies
  • Detailed cost planning and value management
  • Tender negotiation and contract administration
  • Progress claim and variation assessments
  • Financial reporting and final account preparation
  • Expert witness representation in dispute resolution

Matt McPherson

General Manager & New Business Manager

Matt is the General Manager and Business Development Manager at Newton Fisher Group, bringing over 25 years of experience in banking, finance, and business development across leading institutions including ANZ, Westpac, Mortgage Choice, and private lending.

With a career built on fostering strong client relationships, Matt has worked closely with Quantity Surveyors and builders on the finance side of projects, giving him a unique perspective and deep understanding of the construction industry. In his leadership role at NFG, he oversees business operations, drives strategic growth initiatives, and continues to strengthen relationships with clients, consultants, and industry partners.

Matt is focused on creating opportunities, expanding services for existing clients, and connecting Newton Fisher Group with new partners through his extensive network. His collaborative leadership style and commercial expertise play a key role in supporting the continued growth and success of the business.

Joe Bergin

Associate Director

Joe Bergin is an Associate Director at Newton Fisher Group with over 20 years of diverse experience in the construction industry, spanning both Ireland and Australia. A Chartered Quantity Surveyor since 2011 (MRICS), Joe brings deep expertise and leadership to Newton Fisher’s senior management team, overseeing a range of complex and high-profile projects across the Sydney Metropolitan Region.

Joe’s professional experience encompasses the full project lifecycle, with specialist knowledge in:

  • Master Planning & Feasibility Analysis: Providing strategic cost input at the early conceptual and feasibility stages to ensure projects are commercially viable and aligned with client objectives.
  • Cost Planning & Value Management: Developing and maintaining accurate cost plans that support design development, while applying value management techniques to optimise project outcomes.
  • Tendering & Procurement: Managing tender processes including preparation, review, and negotiation to secure the best value procurement outcomes.
  • Contract Administration: Administering construction contracts through meticulous review of progress claims, variation assessments, and financial reporting to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Post-Contract Services: Delivering comprehensive services including cost control, forecasting, risk management, and final account preparation.

Christopher Vo

Project Leader

Christopher Vo is a degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor at Newton Fisher Group, bringing over eight years of industry experience across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, aged care, residential, retail, commercial, industrial, hospitality, infrastructure, and building services throughout Australia.

He holds a Bachelor of Construction Management with Honours from the University of Technology Sydney, is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and is in the process of attaining membership with the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS). These affiliations reflect Christopher’s commitment to professional growth and his alignment with leading standards in the construction industry.

Christopher has developed a strong technical skillset that spans the full project lifecycle. His expertise includes feasibility studies, detailed cost planning, value management, pre-tender estimates, early contractor involvement (ECI) processes, progress claim and variation assessments, financial reporting, and preparation of final accounts. Matthew Goussis

Quantity Surveyor

Matthew Goussis is a Quantity Surveyor at Newton Fisher Group, offering over nine years of diverse industry experience spanning residential, commercial, and retail sectors. His comprehensive background—shaped by roles in project coordination, contracts administration, and project management—gives him a unique and in-depth understanding of project delivery from both the site and consultancy perspectives.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Construction Management from Western Sydney University and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), reflecting his commitment to professional standards and ongoing development within the built environment sector.

Matthew is also a Registered Tax Practitioner with the Australian Tax Practitioners Board, specialising in property tax depreciation. This accreditation enables him to provide expert guidance on capital allowances and depreciation schedules, helping property owners, investors, accountants, and advisors maximise available tax deductions while ensuring compliance with current legislation. His combined expertise in quantity surveying and tax depreciation allows him to deliver practical, accurate, and commercially focused advice tailored to each client’s circumstances.

Quantity Surveyor

Andrew is a degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor, having obtained a Bachelor of Construction Management and Property from the University of New South Wales. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (MAIQS, CQS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Andrew brings 4 years of construction experience across residential, commercial, retail, healthcare, industrial and infrastructure sectors throughout Australia. Andrew has contributed to the successful delivery of numerous projects by ensuring they are completed on time and on budget while providing value engineering advice to achieve optimal outcomes for clients.

Andrew’s expertise includes feasibility estimates, cost planning, value management, pre-tender estimates, progress claim and variation assessments, financial reporting, and preparation of final accounts. He is deeply committed to understanding his clients’ needs, delivering tailored solutions, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to ensure every project exceeds expectations and fulfils its objectives.
